5 Sweet & Simple Ways to Improve Your Gut Health

Why is Improving Gut Health Important?

Isn’t it interesting that inside our intestines lives bacteria? And these live creatures are so important to our system. The gut helps the body break down our foods and helps us to absorb the nutrients, which supports our normal everyday bodily functions. And improving Gut Health, which is such a hot topic today, so let’s take a look at how we can do it.

For me, I have my BA in English and my MAT. I’ve been a health coach for 7 years in the health industry, studying & helping myself and others lose weight, maintain weight, and get healthy.

If you’re looking to lose weight, after you read this article make sure you come back and check out my weight loss tips.

1. Have More Whole Grains to Improve Gut Health.

Whole grains have fiber and non-digestible carbs encourage the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. Whole Grains may also increase the feeling of fullness and reduce inflammation for heart disease. Quinoa, black rice, brown rice, and red rice are some examples of whole grains. Shop for “Whole Grains” on labels in the store.

Additionally, you may also want to try this Digestive Health Boost product that will make your digestion regular. This is meant to go in shakes, but you can find other ways to consume this powder, such as mixing it in eggs, in your morning coffee or cooking batter. I use this daily and find it tasteless, and always have regular bowel movements and great flow of digestion, which I attribute to this. Try it here and see how your body loves it.

2. Eat Lots of Vegetables and Fruits to Improve Gut Health.

Fruits and vegetables are a great source of nutrients for microbiome. Your body can’t actually digest the fiber from a lot of fruits and veggies, but your gut bacteria can, which helps them grow. Vegetables and Fruits also can help prevent some diseases, and are allover fantastic for our health.

I think many people may struggle to get in their vegetables for the day. One solution I found is in this Supergreens powder that you can scoop into a shake, or again get creative with how you consume it (coffee? eggs?). You can’t taste it in the shake and it gives you a full serving of vegetables. I’ve looked at other brands, but nothing really compared as far as ingredients and taste in my opinion. (I don’t taste it at all when putting it in a shake or baking a one-serving cake). Check it out and get yours here.

Many fruits, vegetables and whole grains have prebiotics that are important for gut health. Prebiotics help beneficial bacteria in the gut to grow. My Healthy Shake is also a product with your daily dose of prebiotics.

3. Get Plenty of Sleep and Lower Your Stress Levels.

If you don’t get enough sleep, then your body is full of cortisol and stress. Your hormones become unbalanced fast. There is more intestinal motility during the night, and lack of proper sleep may cause increased gut problems. Perhaps you may even want to take up Yoga if you are often a person of high-stress. It can really help manage your stress. I teach yoga for free here. If you like it, please subscribe on YouTube.

One simple breathing technique to help calm down and lower your stress levels is: breath in deeply through your nose, hold your breath a few seconds at the top, and let out your breath slowly through your mouth. Automatically feel better! Repeat as many times as you’d like.

4. Have More Probiotics in Your Diet.

These live microorganisms are so healthy for the body when consumed, and it helps your immune response. Probiotics create a healthy living environment in the intestines for the bacteria. Yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut and My Healthy Shake are products that have probiotics for your gut health.

My Healthy Shake is a product I have been drinking almost every day for 7 years, and I’ve definitely seen a difference with it. I lost 35 pounds with it. My bowel movements have been regular ever since drinking daily yummy shakes. My Healthy Shake has both probiotics and prebiotics. Bacillus coagulans is the probiotic used in My Healthy Shake is resistant to stomach acid and helps your digestion and gut health. Check out more Healthy Shake ingredients and flavors here.

5. Have Foods Rich in Antioxidants.

Antioxidants protect the cell lining in the gut. It helps control inflammation and once again helps support healthy gut bacteria. Spices are something great that contain antioxidants, so feel good when you’re having spices in your diet.

Foods: Carrots, Potatoes, Spinach, Broccoli, Artichokes, Blackberries, Cranberries, Dark Chocolate, Walnuts, Cherries, Dark Green Veggies, and yes, My Healthy Shake.
