How can we change our mindset to have a positive aspect so that we can fully believe and lose weight with ease?

Our mind is stronger than you think and your attitude has the ability to change your body for the positive.

Dr. Adrienne Youdim discusses a study where there were two groups of people. After blood tests, one group was told they genetically had the capacity to be great exercisers, while the second group was told the opposite.

The group who believed they were good exercisers soon had an increased physical capacity (such as better lung function) while the second group dropped their capacity.

What does this tell us? What you believe becomes your reality.

Do you believe that you can lose weight easily?

There’s no harm in starting to re-program your mind right now so that you have a new belief: You CAN lose weight with ease.

Believe and Lose Weight – Your Mindset is Key

Research is showing more and more that Mindset is Key to a lot of things, including how to start reprogramming our minds for weight loss. Once your mind believes something, it transforms your perception, changing the way you see things, including how you see and experience your body. Your mind can be positively or negatively programmed to affect you by how you think about yourself, what you say to yourself, inside your mind and aloud.

So the first step is to watch how you are thinking. Notice. Simply notice. “Oh, that comment I made about my body wasn’t very positive. That thought about the food on my plate being fattening and bad for me isn’t great for my body to hear.”

Your body hears everything and reacts. If you’re thinking negative thoughts that food will make you gain weight, guess what will happen?

By this information, you’re starting to wonder if your reality creates you, or if you create your reality. And I welcome you, fully invite you, to test it out and see for yourself.

There are many coaches out there, like me, who have found out that positive mindset is the key to attract what you want in your life, including happiness, weight loss in your body, and your health.

So try, it out. The worst that can happen is, it doesn’t work.

So, yes, it does start with positive self-talk. But you are speaking and feeling the words you speak with excitement. The more you do it, the more confident you’ll be. The more you will believe.

And belief gets you in the door.

Get in the Mindset of a Positive Person

Consult the Healthy Version of yourself. There is a Future You that is healthy, fit, cut, and all the things you aim to be physically. Talk to this person.

What would the Healthy You choose to eat? How would the Healthy You react to what numbers the scale just read? What would the Healthy You choose to do with her free time right now? Does she want to at least try 5 minutes of exercise and see how that feels, and go from there?

Then, you can use positive affirmations. You can try looking in the mirror (or not). This is also very helpful before you’re about to consume food or drinks.

Say Affirmations Before You Eat and Throughout the Day

Pick out a few things that you like about yourself. Start speaking positively about the food you’re going to eat.

  1. My hair looks so pretty today.
  2. I love how I am slimming down.
  3. I am starting to notice some tone to my calves. Look at that!
  4. Look how beautiful my smile is on my face.
  5. Hello food! I know that you are here to help my body get fueled. Help me to become slim, strong, and fit. Thank you!
  6. This food will help me lose weight, because look at all the yummy protein I have on here! Yum.
  7. Each vegetable I eat is helping my body fuel with important nutrients. Thank you for helping me on my fitness journey, food.

Fake it Till You Make it.

I’ve done this with several things in my life. But the good thing about this is, you are pretending something, and simultaneously tricking your mind into believing.

And this only works once you believe.

So Fake It. Act Like It.

Meaning, act like you already ARE a slim, healthy and fit mom or person or individual. See the person you want to see in your mind’s eye. Pretend like you already have that body. You are already there.

When you imagine something, your mind doesn’t know the difference.

So, you can easily convince your mind of something once you pretend like it already exists in your reality.

Through this process, you are re-programming your mind.

You are no longer that overweight person who eats way too much sugar and doesn’t want to start working out after work.

You are the NEW slim and trim you who thinks eating too much is just boring and moving your body is exciting! (For example.)

Dress like that Healthy You. Talk like that Healthy You.

Believe in the new you. Simply believe and lose weight, slowly but surely. No rush, giving yourself the patience as you continue to act like a slim person in your new skin and new mind.

Take a Few Minutes a Day to Meditate

It’s so hard to take the time to do this – I’ll be the first person to admit it. I’m at home with an 8-month old.

But, if I can’t sit down and meditate, or I simply don’t take the time to, then I will do this as I fall asleep.

I will also do it throughout the day when I’m conscious and aware of where I am, present in the moment, and then just concentrate on my breath. Even if I’m not in “the stillness.”

Because, how do we meditate?

We get still and focus on the breath coming in and out of the nose. Notice the breath.

If your mind is so busy, then it may help to say the words “Breath in. Breath out,” as a mantra.

But this focus on the breath is really helpful because it tunes everything else out for a few minutes. No judgements of right or wrong. No thinking about what you’re doing next. Just being here with your breath.

Notice your mind clear. Notice yourself become calmer.

Eventually, invite in a new feeling of belief. Of strength. Of confidence.

The scale can be a great tool, but practice using it in a positive manner.

Take note of the number on your scale on the first day of the month, and the last day. Weighing yourself every day is still great.

Take your measurements around your waist, hips and thighs on the first day of the month, and the last.
